We are the Society of St. Vincent de Paul
Mahoning District Council, Inc.
Welcome to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Mahoning District Council, Inc. (St. Vincent de Paul Mahoning for short!), a lay-led Catholic charitable organization in the Diocese of Youngstown that is easing the burden of those who have less right here in the Mahoning Valley. Volunteers and staff alike do the work of this ministry every day at our Dining Hall, Food Pantry, at Outreach Events, and at our Thrift Store & Donation Center. Our focus area is the Greater Youngstown area including the surrounding communities. Through community involvement, charitable contributions, and man volunteer hours, our goal is to break the cycle of poverty.
Our volunteers create a warm, welcoming environment for people who are hungry to come share a meal. We provide a hot meal five days a week, often serving over 1,500 per week, and breakfast on Saturday mornings, ensuring that everyone who is hungry is fed enough to move forward.
A consistent resource to the Greater Youngstown area, our all-volunteer Food Pantry provides grocery supplements to more than 30 families every day of the week. A voucher is required to receive assistance and is supplied through participating Catholic parishes. And of course, bread is available daily for anyone in need.
Our volunteers and staff provide hot meals, clothing, and other material needs, as well as one-on-one time with communities in their own backyards. 2023 and 2024 saw our Outreach Events continue to expand to meet a growing need to be more intertwined with neighborhood communities. With your help, St. Vincent de Paul Mahoning will continue to grow!
Re-introduced in a new, 16,000-square foot location in Boardman, Ohio in June 2024, the Thrift Store & Donation Center provides critical funding, responsibly offsetting costs across all aspects of the organization, as well as providing material goods to the whole community, especially those who need access to affordable goods.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has been active in the Mahoning Valley since 1931, but the organization's roots around the world go much deeper. Our staff and volunteers continue the Church's mission of providing preference for the poor as well as service to the whole community. And with your assistance, we are making an impact!
